Can a Palm Beach County family pay for dual enrollment, college credit & career training with scholarship funds?

It depends on the program: Unique Abilities and PEP and Private School Scholarship can pay for it. The cards below give each program's rule.

Unique Abilities (FES-UA)Eligible

Tuition and fees at eligible postsecondary institutions, dual enrollment, industry certification exams, pre-apprenticeship programs for students 16 and older, and contributions to Florida 529 savings.

PEP (home-directed ESA)Eligible

Postsecondary and dual-enrollment tuition and fees at listed institutions, plus industry certification exams and pre-apprenticeship programs.

Private School Scholarship (FTC/FES-EO)Eligible

Participation in the scholarship does not affect the ability to use funds for dual enrollment at an approved postsecondary institution.

Which rules apply to dual enrollment, college credit & career training?

  • Courses covered by Florida's dual-enrollment cost statutes are excluded, so a family should not expect a scholarship to pay for a course the state already pays for.
  • Transition services and job coaching are FES-UA-only categories.

What is not allowed for dual enrollment, college credit & career training?

  • Courses already paid for under the state dual-enrollment statutes
  • Commercial-grade tools and equipment

How does dual enrollment, college credit & career training work for a Palm Beach County family?

Palm Beach State College requires the student's private school to have an articulation agreement with the college, and FAU publishes a list of private schools with executed agreements. Check your school against both lists before applying.

How does a family buy dual enrollment, college credit & career training?

Look in MyScholarShop first, because its listings are pre-approved. Next try Find Providers in EMA, which lets the account pay tutors, therapists and instructors directly. If neither fits, pay by card, hold the itemized receipt and file for reimbursement. A purchase the guides do not list as eligible needs pre-authorization before you spend.

What can the funds pay for, and what can they not?

For this category, the table sets allowed purchases next to excluded ones.
